David: 2 Samuel 11:4

Passage 2 Samuel 11:4

David is called a man after God’s own heart, yet 2 Samuel 11:4 says he sent for Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, and lay with her. The argument goes on to the aftermath in 2 Samuel 11:6-25, where David arranges for Uriah to be placed where he will be killed in battle.

A third charge concerns David’s dancing before the ark, treated under the topic of prophets described as naked.

So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house.
