In 2 Corinthians 12:16 Paul answers the charge that he burdened the Corinthians, and says he was crafty and caught them by deceit. The argument takes the verse as Paul’s own admission of cunning and guile, treating the words as a confession of a method rather than a charge he is refuting. The surrounding verses show he is answering a charge made against him, so the verse should be read in context. (The New Testament text is not yet on this site.)
